New long-duration corporate bond strategy benchmarked to the FTSE Canada Long Term Corporate Bond Index has attracted over C$200 million.

Investment Management
Employee-majority-owned Toronto value manager running Canadian, global and fixed-income mandates.
Beutel Goodman is one of Canada's largest independent investment managers, founded in Montreal in 1967 by Austin Beutel and Ned Goodman and now run from a single Toronto office. It manages bottom-up, value-oriented Canadian equity, global equity, fixed income and balanced mandates for pension plans, institutions, private clients and retail mutual fund investors. Employees own 51% of the firm and Affiliated Managers Group indirectly owns a 49% minority stake; the firm says it operates independently of AMG. For candidates it is a compact Toronto buy-side shop with research, portfolio management, client service and private client roles, and no advertised student program.

Reasons that work in interviews
3 reasons for Beutel Goodman
The firm’s investment philosophy is published and almost no candidate reads it. Quoting a manager’s own stated criteria back to them, with one company you applied it to, beats any structural reason here. Say which part you agree with and, if you can defend it, one part you would push on.
Disciplined value with an explicit sell discipline, which is unusual: most managers publish a buy process and stay vague on selling.
Institutional focus means long-horizon relationships.
Independent and employee-owned.

Summer Analyst · Canada
Mid-sized managers take a small number of students a year, often into research or operations rather than a named analyst programme, and frequently through a school's co-op office rather than a public posting. BSO has not confirmed a timetable for Beutel Goodman on an official page: this records that the intake exists and what the category's cycle looks like, not a published date. Confirm with the firm before you plan around it.
