Investment Management
Small Calgary-based TSXV-listed investment company, formerly a mid-market specialty lender, now selling assets to repay debt.
Crown Capital Partners (TSXV: CRWN) was founded by Crown Life Insurance (independent since 2002) and built a name as a Canadian mid-market specialty-finance lender. It stopped managing specialty-finance funds in July 2021 and has since operated as an investment company with businesses in distribution, network services, distributed power, real estate and legacy specialty-finance holdings. In 2026 it is under financial strain: it sold its Go Direct and Galaxy Broadband subsidiaries to repay senior debt and amend its debentures, is under a management cease trade order over late audited filings, and moved its listing from the TSX to the TSX Venture Exchange in September 2026. For credit-focused students, it is not an active recruiter and no longer a typical mid-market lending platform.

Reasons that work in interviews
3 reasons for Crown Capital Partners
Credit interviews test whether you think about downside first. The strongest framing is that you want to learn to underwrite what happens when a business underperforms, which equity investing never forces you to do properly. Then make it specific to their position in the capital structure.
Publicly listed, so the portfolio, the yields and the strategy are disclosed: read the filings before the interview, because the information advantage is sitting there.
Specialty finance to mid-market Canadian businesses that fall outside bank lending criteria, which is a specific niche rather than a broad mandate.
Small team, so an analyst is on the full credit.
Coming soon
We’re collecting the real technical and behavioural questions candidates were asked at Crown Capital Partners, by role and office, and how each round runs.
When they’re in, they’ll be part of BSO Pro, which already has candidate reports for dozens of firms.
Interviewing there sooner than that? Get in touch and we’ll help you prepare.
How juniors get in
No junior hiring route is visible: the firm stopped managing lending funds in 2021, its team page lists only three senior executives, and it has no careers page or postings, so don't target it for an internship or analyst role.
Green: evidence it does. Struck through: evidence it doesn’t. Dashed: no public evidence either way.
