Deans Knight is an independent Vancouver investment manager founded in 1992 by Wayne Deans and Doug Knight; the firm says Knight was the first manager in Canada to focus on high-yield bonds. Over time it shifted from mainly institutional clients to private families, entrepreneurs and family offices. It runs three strategies: a concentrated Canadian equity growth portfolio, a high-yield income strategy, and a resource strategy run with the JDS Group, whose resource-finance executive Brent Gilchrist became CEO in 2024. The whole team works from one Vancouver office and the website lists no student program, so it is a niche target for West Coast buy-side candidates.
