Inovia Capital Promotes Mia Morisset to Partner (opens in a new tab)
Growth principal promoted to partner; the release notes the firm has grown about 5x in AUM since she joined.

Growth & Venture Capital
Montreal-headquartered, Canada-anchored multi-stage VC firm with about US$2.5B AUM, investing from pre-seed to pre-IPO.
Inovia Capital, founded in 2007 by Chris Arsenault and Shawn Abbott, calls itself the largest Canada-anchored venture capital firm, with US$2.5 billion under management. It runs three linked strategies: Discovery (pre-seed and emerging-manager funds, including programs with Northleaf and Mila), Venture and Growth. Investment staff sit in Montreal, Toronto, Waterloo, Calgary and London, and there are offices in the Bay Area and Abu Dhabi. For Canadian candidates it is one of the few domestic VC platforms with junior investor and vice-president seats across stages; a 2026 release says the firm has grown from about 15 people to about 50.

Pre-seed and seed strategy that backs emerging managers and makes direct early investments. It includes Discovery by Inovia x Northleaf (launched May 2026), the Venture Scientist Fund co-managed with Mila, and a European Precede strategy; Inovia reports 23 emerging managers and 1,200+ underlying companies.
Early-stage team leading seed to Series A/B rounds in AI, cybersecurity, fintech, digital health, future of work and infrastructure/developer tools (e.g. lead on Nue's Series A, co-lead on Bench IQ's seed).
Growth funds that double down on breakout companies, often ones first backed by the Venture team. Growth Fund III held its first close in mid-2024 with CDPQ, Investissement Québec, FSTQ and BDC as co-leads.
Platform team covering talent, product and technology, corporate development and marketing, plus entrepreneurs and executives in residence who support portfolio companies.

Reasons that work in interviews
3 reasons for Inovia Capital
Venture interviews test sourcing and judgement rather than technicals. Bring a company they have not invested in and explain why you would back it, then name a portfolio company of theirs you find interesting and why. That does more than any structural reason.
Early and growth funds under one roof, so you see companies from seed through scale rather than one stage.
Montreal-rooted with a strong European network, which is unusual for a Canadian fund.
Operating partners with real company-building experience rather than only investing backgrounds.

How juniors get in
One of the few Canadian funds that hires new graduates as investment analysts (often after an internship with the Growth or Venture team) and also hires associates and VPs out of banking, consulting or other investing roles.
Green: evidence it does. Struck through: evidence it doesn’t. Dashed: no public evidence either way.
Each row is a start season; the bars are when you apply. The track starts this month, so how far right a bar sits is how far off it is.
