Private Equity
AGF-owned Toronto alternatives manager running a hybrid fund-of-funds and direct program across venture, growth and mid-market buyouts.
Kensington Capital Partners, founded in 1996, is a Canadian alternative asset manager with offices in Toronto and Vancouver and about C$2.1 billion in assets under management. It invests across venture capital, growth equity and North American mid-market buyouts using a hybrid model: LP commitments to other managers combined with direct investments and co-investments. Its flagship is the evergreen, RRSP-eligible Kensington Private Equity Fund for Canadian investors; there are also standalone venture funds and the ONE9 national-security platform. AGF Management bought a 51% stake in March 2024. Redemptions in the Private Equity Fund were suspended in September 2025 and its terms restructured in 2026, and the firm brought in a new President and a new Head of Private Equity in mid-2026. Its people page listed no open roles when checked.

An evergreen fund launched in 2007 that gives Canadian investors RRSP-eligible exposure to venture, growth and buyout in roughly equal parts, through fund and direct positions. Redemptions were suspended in September 2025. In March 2026 unitholders approved a new framework allowing quarterly redemptions of about 5% of units, subject to available cash.

At this size the intake is one or two people and rarely posted on a public careers page: it runs through campus contacts, referrals and direct approaches. Treat the absence of a posting as a reason to reach out rather than as evidence there is no seat. BSO has not confirmed a timetable for Kensington Capital Partners on an official page: this records that the intake exists and what the category's cycle looks like, not a published date. Confirm with the firm before you plan around it.
