Reasons that work in interviews
3 reasons for StepStone Infrastructure
Infrastructure and energy assets need refinancings, construction periods and asset recycling, so there is always work on an existing asset even when nothing new is being bought. That is a better “why infra” than stability or inflation protection, and it answers the hidden question about whether a junior will be busy.
Part of a global private markets platform, so you see primaries, secondaries and co-investments in infrastructure rather than direct deals only.
The fund-of-funds and secondaries lens teaches you how infrastructure managers themselves are evaluated, which is a rarer skill than asset underwriting.
Global mandate from a Canadian seat.

How juniors get in
The Toronto infrastructure team hires winter co-op analysts (undergrad, master's or MBA students); no full-time analyst or associate route into the Toronto team is publicly documented.
Green: evidence it does. Struck through: evidence it doesn’t. Dashed: no public evidence either way.
Each row is a start season; the bars are when you apply. The track starts this month, so how far right a bar sits is how far off it is.
