Tall Grass Ventures (TGV) is an emerging Calgary venture firm, co-founded by managing partners Wilson Acton and Chris Edwards, that invests only in pre-Series A agrifood-tech companies. Its inaugural Fund I closed oversubscribed at $32 million in July 2024, with Farm Credit Canada and Manitoba First Fund as anchor institutional LPs alongside Prairie producers and agribusiness people. The fund mainly backs Canadian companies, or companies relevant to Canadian agriculture, across biology, livestock, digital agronomy and ag fintech. The team is small and has hired a Venture Analyst Intern, giving Prairie students rare sector-specialist VC exposure.

Reasons that work in interviews
Venture interviews test sourcing and judgement rather than technicals. Bring a company they have not invested in and explain why you would back it, then name a portfolio company of theirs you find interesting and why. That does more than any structural reason.
