Canadian Investment Bank
TD Bank Group's investment banking and capital markets division, expanded in the U.S. through TD Cowen.
TD Securities is the wholesale banking arm of The Toronto-Dominion Bank, providing corporate and investment banking, global markets, global transaction banking, research and sustainable finance advice to corporate, government and institutional clients. TD opened its securities arm in 1987 and says it has more than 6,900 professionals operating out of 40 cities. Its 2023 purchase of Cowen Inc. added a U.S. investment banking, equities and research franchise that operates as TD Cowen. The Canadian franchise was built the same way a generation earlier: TD bought Newcrest Capital, then the leading independent Canadian equities and investment banking firm, for $224 million in 2000, traded as TD Newcrest, and took on Newcrest chief executive Bob Dorrance into TD Securities' senior management.

Reasons that work in interviews
4 reasons for TD Securities
The Cowen acquisition bolted a genuine US equities, research and healthcare/tech franchise onto a Canadian bank, which no Big Six peer has done at that scale.
That integration is still live, so juniors are working on a platform being assembled rather than one that settled a decade ago.
Strongest domestic rates and government debt franchise, so DCM and rates exposure here is deeper than coverage-only shops.
Senior bankers have traditionally stayed longer at TD than at any other Big Six bank, and the client relationships run just as deep — the same coverage names on the same accounts for decades.

The named Toronto investment banking summer analyst seat, 37.5 hours a week over the summer term. It runs on the TD Securities timetable rather than the bank's ordinary student calendar — a year earlier.
Undergraduate / Masters associate · Canada
TD lists Investment Banking (TD Securities) among the departments hiring into its Canadian undergraduate and Masters associate programs. The TD Securities analyst intake runs a full year ahead of the others: applications open in the spring for a summer start the following year, so a student aiming at the summer after next applies this spring.
Undergraduate / Masters associate · Canada
Global Markets (TD Securities) is listed for both the undergraduate and graduate associate intakes in Canada, on the same year-ahead TD Securities timetable.
