Everything to prepare for a Maxit Capital interview: why the firm, and the questions candidates there reported being asked.
From the inside
Reasons that work in interviews
3 reasons for Maxit Capital
At this size the interviewer is usually a founding partner, so a reason assembled from the firm’s homepage will not survive. Build the answer from four things instead, in order: one named transaction from their tombstones and what you found interesting about it; who you would report to, and what you want to learn from them specifically; why small, in your own words, tied to something you have actually done; and why this sector or region, if the firm has one.
A very small team advising on large mining M&A, which is the clearest example in Canada of mandate size being decoupled from headcount.
Founded by senior mining bankers who left bank platforms, so the work is done rather than delegated.
If mining M&A is the interest, this is the most concentrated version of it.
Firm-specific questions
Why Maxit Capital over Research Capital Corporation or Beacon Securities?
Anchor your answer in what sets it apart: mining-only independent m&a and merchant bank; advisor on large gold-sector combinations; takeover defence and royalty/stream expertise.
Walk me through a recent deal Maxit Capital worked on.
For example O3 Mining Inc. (financial advisor to o3 mining; fairness opinion to the board, Dec 12, 2024). Cover the rationale, valuation and what the firm did.
